Valve Technician, Experienced (Fly in/Fly out from Calgary or Edmonton)

PTW is hiring an experienced Valve Technician to join our team in Fort McMurray, Alberta! This position is a 2 week on/2 week off, fly in/fly out role based out of our Fort McMurray in-town valve shop with a requirement to work onsite occasionally. 


  • Assists with the repairs and troubleshooting of relief valves, and pressure control equipment.
  • Assists with the installation, calibration, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of relief devices, and valve equipment.
  • Service and set Pressure Relief Valves per PTW QMS & jurisdictional requirements.
  • Service API/ANSI/other valves per customer & valve specifications.
  • Performs mechanical work associated with instrument repair and modification while having the ability to remove and install small piping and tubing.
  • Communicates condition of equipment and status of jobs to supervision, operations and outside service representatives.
  • Consults manufacturer's manuals, and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures for instruments used for measuring and controlling pressure, temperature, chemical composition and other variables in manufacturing and processing.


  • Must and be willing to provide a clean driver's abstract (3 years) current to 30 days to be considered for operating PTW vehicles.
  • Must be willing to complete a pre-access D&A test, if applicable.
  • Must be Mechanically Inclined & Interested in learning in a combination Shop/Oil Field environment.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs periodically
  • Comfortable learning to safely use a Crane and/or Fork Lift
  • Knowledge of how to properly use basic power & hand tools
  • Confident in using basic computer programs for recording info or researching codes/standards
  • Must and be willing to provide a driver's abstract (3 years) current to 30 days to be considered for operating PTW Vehicles.


  • Machining experience 
  • Testing PRVs using a boiler 
  • Testing PRVs using an Assisted Lift Device (AVK, Ventil...etc.)
  • Repair of control & isolation valves 
  • On-site Turn Around Valve Services
