Junior Building Quality Control Inspector

PTW is looking for a Junior Building Quality Control (QC) Inspector to join our team and help ensure the quality, integrity, and performance of our modular and rigid-frame building projects.

In this role, you'll be involved throughout the building lifecycle — from fabrication and assembly in the yard through pre-shipment inspections and final site installation. You'll inspect building-envelope components, structural and non-structural elements, workmanship, and installation to ensure our buildings meet approved drawings, specifications, quality plans, applicable codes, and client requirements.

If you have a strong eye for detail, experience in building construction, modular buildings, building envelopes, or construction quality control, and take pride in delivering quality work, we want to hear from you!

DAY IN THE LIFE…

As a Building QC Inspector, you will:

  • Perform quality inspections of modular, skid-mounted, and rigid-frame steel buildings throughout fabrication, assembly, finishing, shipment, and site installation.

  • Conduct yard and pre-shipment inspections to verify building condition, completeness, punch-list status, and readiness for shipment.

  • Inspect building-envelope components, including roofing and wall systems, insulation and vapour barriers, cladding systems, flashing, trims and sealants, doors and windows, penetrations and transitions, and interior finishes.

  • Perform dimensional and workmanship inspections in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs, applicable codes, and project requirements.

  • Inspect structural framing, connections, supports, and welding as required to support overall building quality.

  • Coordinate and support Hold Point, Witness Point, client, and third-party inspections.

  • Complete site inspections during building unloading, setting, module connections, field installation, repairs, modifications, and completion activities.

  • Verify module joints, building interfaces, penetrations, openings, and other building-envelope components are properly installed and weather-tight.

  • Conduct daily site quality walkdowns and coordinate inspection activities with site supervision, contractors, Quality, Project Management, Engineering, clients, and third-party inspectors.

  • Identify, document, and report field modifications, non-conformances, workmanship deficiencies, and incomplete work.

  • Verify corrective actions are completed and properly documented.

  • Monitor and verify punch-list items through completion and closure.

  • Complete inspection reports, checklists, photographs, and other required quality documentation.

  • Participate in final site quality inspections, client/TPI walkdowns, building acceptance, and project turnover.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Experience in modular building fabrication, building construction, building-envelope inspection, or construction quality control.

  • Experience with modular, prefabricated, skid-mounted, industrial, or commercial buildings is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of building-envelope construction and inspection.

  • Experience inspecting building components such as walls, roofs, floors, insulation, vapour barriers, cladding, interior finishes, doors, windows, HVAC, penetrations, flashing, trims, and sealants.

  • Ability to identify workmanship deficiencies that could impact building-envelope integrity or weather-tightness.

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, building-envelope, structural, fabrication, and installation drawings.

  • Ability to interpret project specifications, ITPs, procedures, and manufacturers' installation requirements.

  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and project-specific requirements.

  • Experience with NCRs, punch lists, inspection reports, quality records, and turnover documentation.

  • Experience with structural steel and welding inspection is considered an asset.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to work independently in shop, yard, and construction-site environments.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as required.

TICKETS & REQUIREMENTS

  • CSA-approved safety boots.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Reliable transportation, where required.

  • Ability to travel to project and client sites.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
